Asus has launched its ZenFone series in India last month. The new ZenFone series smartphones offer screen sizes from 4 to 6 inches. Here, we are reviewing ASUS Zenfone 5. ASUS Zenfone 5 runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but user can also update it to Android 4.4 KitKat. It has 5 -inch 1280x720p HD display. It comes with an 8MP camera with LED flash and also a front 2MP camera.

Design:
The ZenFone 5 has 5-inch 720p display protected with Gorilla Glass 3. It is primarily made of plastic and in candy-bar shape. Asus has used an IPS panel which offers pretty good viewing angles and colors look quite vibrant on the screen. The smartphone is 148.2mm tall and 72.8mm wide. Thickness of this smartphone is only 10.34mm. All the buttons like the Power and Volume rocker keys are placed on the right side of smartphone. On the top user will find 3.5 mm audio jack and on the bottom user will find the micro USB port for charging and data synchronization of the device with a USB cable. It also contains 2MP front camera for selfie or video chat. ASUS logo placed at the top of front side. In the front, there is a metallic strip featuring concentric semi-circles just below the screen. This small strip enhances design of smartphone.
Back side of smartphone, user can removable back panel for insert micro-SIM and microSD card, battery (2,110 mAh) is non-removable in this smartphone. It features 8 MP (with auto-focus) rear camera with LED flash. The mono speaker grill is placed at the bottom and a couple of Asus and Intel logos.
Software & Performance:
The ZenFone 5 smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with ZenUI from Asus and user can also update it to Android 4.4 KitKat. It is powered by 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology and 2GB of RAM. Asus ZenUI comes with custom icons, widgets, menus and colourful toggles in the notification bar. There are many preloaded apps in ZenFone 5 smartphone like, Power saver, FlashLight, Splendid, Omlet Chat, Pc Link, Super Note, WebStorage, Amazon Kindle and Share Link.
Multi-tasking is easy and user can work on different apps at the same time. Performance is not an issue with this smartphone, It does not lag. The smartphone also stays cool most of the time. We have played many games on it like, Racing games, Fighting games. we noticed that device is not heat up after extensive gameplay.
This smartphone Z3 comes with 8GB internal storage and can be expandable up to 64 GB.
Call quality on both sim cards, in our experience, has been fine. Wi-Fi and 3G networks worked smoothly.
Camera:
I liked camera feature most in this smartphone. The Zenfone 5 comes with an 8MP camera with LED flash and also a front 2MP camera. Asus has used its own Pixelmaster technology in it, which combines a f/2.0 aperture and an 8-megapixel Sony BSI sensor.
The camera app offers 18 modes. These modes are Auto, Time Rewind, HDR, Panorama, Night, Low-light, Selfie ( It detects faces and clicks automatically), Miniature, Depth of Field (To blur the background), Smart Remove (To removes unwanted moving objects like cars or bikes), All Smiles, Beautification, and GIF animation.
We have clicked many images in different modes and also different time frame. We have got amazing result. In day time, when we clicked images, it has given good quality images and when we have clicked in evening by using its low light mode, it has again given nice quality images.
For videos, user can take full HD video by this smartphone. It supports 1080p video capture. We have also tested its front facing camera, which also delivers good quality of selfie.

People looking for a smartphone with a big screen, good camera quality and want to play games on smartphone without any lag, can consider the Asus ZenFone 5. It is priced at Rs. 9,999 and available on Flipkart only.
