Chennai, India, July 16, 2014: Following the football mania, Maveric Systems organized its first ever ‘Football Carnival’ on 12th & 13th July, 2014 at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Eighteen teams competed against each other, in a league format. The winning team, Striker 11, was awarded with the Maveric Football Carnival Trophy and medals were distributed to each player.
The teams were split into six groups comprising of three teams each, and every team had a minimum of two female members. Two teams with the maximum number of goals directly qualified for the semi-finals, and the rest of them faced a knock-out round for the final two spots for the semi-final round the next day. Semi-finalists included Teams Striker 11, Akila Guys, MCC Footballers & Avengers United.
Teams Striker 11 and Team Akila Guys went on to play the grand final on 13th July, 2014. After a close match, Team Striker 11 team won with a 3-1 in the penalty shoot-out round.
Over 350 Maveric employees, from the Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai offices and across functions got together on both days, to cheer for and motivate their fellow ‘Maveric’k teams.
