Post-Budget quote from Mr. Pranab Basu, VP – Operations, VivaConnect Pvt. Ltd.:
Finance minister Arun Jaitley’s decision of allocating Rs. 500 crore for building infrastructure as per the National Rural Internet and Technology Mission will surely spud the growth of mobile services in rural regions of India. This penetration of mobile services will encourage m-governance & m-banking, educational initiatives and improved facilities for farmers & overall agricultural sector. Also we expect a more transparent communication system between people and the administration.
On the hardware aspect, a 10% increase in basic custom duties on telecom products will promote local manufactures to fill up the gap, encouraging inland manufacturing of handsets.
