The new budget is all set in the right direction, as India is fast emerging as a country that is adopting newer technologies. This has led to new- found renewed hope, as the country is beginning to realize the potential of the emerging technologies like Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things(IoT). The proposed fund for creating 100 smart cities across the country is a gigantic leap the new Government has undertaken for the development of the country. With the concept of M2M gaining momentum globally and in India, M2M is moving from the back-office to centre stage and will play substantial role in the smart city initiative. Bearing fact that the world is talking about the application of M2M/IoT, it is good to see that India will also be seen as a smart technology super power. The budget has also thrown light to innovation in manufacturing, healthcare and in nurturing start-ups. Overall, the Union Budget 2014, has given us hope to a brighter, smarter future!
