Performance & Design:
Design of imageFormula P-201 is nice. It is build by hard plastic and its Weight is approx. 550g (1.3lb). As we told that it is a poratble scanner, so its size is approx 12-inch. and consumes 2.5 W electricity when connected with cable, so you can carry it in your laptop bag also. The scanner scans at a speed of 7.5 seconds per page with a 200 x 200 dpi result. The scanner is loaded with latest image processing options and is equipped with an Automatic Paper Size Detection. P-201 has auto color detection which intelligently determines whether to save the scan in Grayscale or Color, this eliminates the need to manually switch between mono & color modes. It supports simplex scanning side.
Scanning modes are Black and White, Error Diffusion, 256-level Grayscale, Advanced Text Enhancement II and 24-bit Color. This device supports Contact image sensor. Now, you are thinking about Contact image sensor. Contact image sensor assemble light from red, green and blue LEDs and direct the light at the original document being scanned. The light that is reflected from the original is gathered by a lens and directed at an image sensor array that rests just under the document being scanned. The use of LEDs allows scanners to be powered through the minimal line voltage supplied via a USB connection. so it consumes 2.5 W electricity when connected with cable.

You can scan Plain Paper, Postcard, Business card and Card (ISO / IEC compliant) with it. It scans in variety of file formats like PDF, JPEG and so forth. Best part of this scanner, it comes along with CaptureOnTouch mobile application for Android and iOS devices. Canon’s CaptureOnTouch Mobile is a free application for smartphones and tablets. It allows you to scan directly to iOS (iPad/iPhone) and Android devices via Wi-Fi network or direct plug-in with USB based tablets. CaptureOnTouch is available on both Google Play and itunes, so, you can also share documents easily by email or by uploading to their cloud-based applications.
You have to just install Canon’s CaptureOnTouch Mobile app on your smartphone and start scanning all of your important documents.
Now many of you want to know, how it works with laptop and PC. To use with laptop or PC, you have to first install its driver via CD. This device supports both Windows and Mac compatibility. Scanner drivers and utilities (CaptureOnTouch, CaptureOnTouch Lite) for both Windows and Mac OS environments are provided, with the same functionality available on both platfroms and after it, connect this scanner with laptop or PC by using USB cable. It’s too simple to install.
When the “AutoStart” switch on the back is set to “ON,” you can do simple scanning using “CaptureOnTouch Lite,” simple utility software that’s preinstalled in the P-201. When set at “OFF,” it scans using the “CaptureOnTouch” full-featured utility software installed in advance on the computer.
This scanner comes with bundled Software, CaptureOnTouch Lite, CaptureOnTouch and BizCard software.
CaptureOnTouch Lite: The P-201 simplifies the setup process down to merely hooking up the scanner to a PC via a single USB cable and letting the built-in CaptureOnTouch Lite software operate the device, resulting in almost instantaneous scanning and saving of scanned documents into popular formats such as
PDF (PDF/A), TIFF, JPEG or PPTX.
CaptureOnTouch: The dedicated CaptureOnTouch software suite adds a wide range of expanded functionality of the P-201. In addition to speedy scanning and saving of scanned documents already made possible with CaptureOnTouch Lite, CaptureOnTouch has a broader selection of output methods, such as sending scanned documents to printers, e-mail, and to bundled application software for added user convenience.
BizCard software: It is a time-saving tool for business card management. BizCard software quickly and easily converts important contact information on business cards into a searchable database.
Verdict:
Canon’s imageFormula P-201 is a good device for all teach savvy people and also professional people, who want to do their document, images and business cards related works in comfort and easy to go manner. This device is too good. We have scaned our old photos, office documents and also scaned our business cards. Best part was, it scaned all of it in its natural colour. As we also told you that it also works with your Android and iOS devices, so you don’t need a laptop or PC always to scan a document. Canon’s imageFormula P-201 comes with MRP of Rs. 9995.
