China Communications Standards Association and Open Mobile Alliance Sign MOU to Foster Closer Cooperation

Open-Mobile-AllianceBeijing, China, September 27, 2014: The China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), the national communications standards organization of China and the Open Mobile Alliance Ltd. (OMA) the industry leading standards organisation for mobile service enablers, today announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen their relationship and foster closer cooperation.


“CCSA is pleased to begin building a stronger relationship with OMA”, said Mr. YANG Zemin, Secretary General at CCSA. “The service layer specifications from the Open Mobile Alliance are widely deployed throughout the mobile industry and we are looking forward to helping CCSA members benefit from OMA’s work through closer cooperation.”


OMA delivers open specifications for creating interoperable services that work across countries, operators, networks and mobile terminals.  Driven by users’ needs and the expanding market for data services, the member companies of OMA stimulate the adoption of new and enhanced information, communication and entertainment services.  OMA members include contributors from all key elements of the wireless value chain.


“OMA is looking forward to working with CCSA to bring requirements from the Chinese communications industry into OMA’s work”, said Seth Newberry, General Manager of the Open Mobile Alliance. “CCSA has a strong history of technical contributions to the international ICT community and OMA is pleased to have this MOU in place that will allow for closer cooperation.”


CCSA is the national communications standards organization of China. Its membership consists of more than 300 vendors, carriers, Internet service providers, and academia, both domestic and multinational in the information and communication field.  The number of subscribers served by CCSA’s members takes a significant part of the whole of the world.  While serving China with the national ICT standards formulated by its members, CCSA is playing also the role of contributing towards global ICT standards.


The MOU was signed while OMA is in Beijing to participate in PT/Expo Comm.  OMA will be exhibiting in Hall 2 Booth 2233 at the China International Exhibition Centre, Beijing from 23 to 27 September.
