Greyhound Research Perspective on Internet.org by Sanchit Vir Gogia, Chief Analyst and CEO, Greyhound Resesarch

Chief-Analyst-&-CEO-at-Greyhound-Research-Sanchit-GogiaGreyhound Research believes that this initiative could bring a wave of change in terms of broadband and internet adoption in India. From the business prospect this could lead direct and easy access to a whole new segment of consumers. The vibrant language ecosystem online will also help the government to transition into the increasingly ‘mobile’ India and give a chance to the other two third Indians   to realise the vision of a digitally connected, knowledge economy.

With a hefty amount of funds coming from Internet.org for development of new and innovative applications in local languages, there is going to be a hike in demand of tech professionals possessing skills in social and mobile.

ISVs and software start ups are booming in India. Greyhound Research believes it’s the right time to be in India to make the most of this opportunity.

For a country like India and other emerging markets with a focus on Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities and towns, support for regional languages is going to be imperative – this will not only help consumers use vernacular, it’s also likely to help promote apps in regional language.
