Xchanging gets South Asia Education Summit Award 2014 for ‘Cloud Adoption in School Education’

Xchanging-logoNew Delhi, India, October 30, 2014: Xchanging, the business process, procurement and technology services provider, won the award for ‘Cloud Adoption in School Education’ at the South Asia Education Summit Award 2014, held recently by ICTPost.com in association with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and Education Technology and Management Academy. The company was recognised for making a positive impact on the lives of people in Malaysia by providing a unified education platform.

Xchanging’s winning project, 1BestariNet, is a nationwide cloud-based learning platform implemented in collaboration with YTL Communications and the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MoE). 1BestariNet is helping to bridge the urban-rural divide by giving teachers and students access to the same systems and content, regardless of their location. As the world’s largest online education community, it connects 10,000 public schools, 5.5 million students, 4.5 million parents and 500,000 teachers via a high-speed 4G Internet.

Through 1BestariNet, Malaysia became the first country in the world to deliver a single, nation-wide cloud-based learning platform. It provides significant benefits to all users —schools are achieving cost savings through the cloud-based delivery of content; students are making substantial progress in their scholastic development irrespective of their background or location; teachers are now able to easily develop stimulating lesson plans with engaging content; and parents can track their children’s progress at school on a real-time basis.

Alok Sinha, President and Head, Global Applications & Engineering Services, & Country Manager-India, Xchanging, said, “We are pleased to have been recognised at the South Asia Education Summit for successfully partnering with the Malaysian Ministry of Education to fulfil its mission-critical 1BestariNet initiative. This award establishes our expertise in serving the education market with unrivalled technology solutions and undeterred focus on constant innovation for supporting customers in achieving transformation. We are committed to providing accessible, affordable, and high quality learning in global economies, including India, with innovative software, compelling content and robust network solutions.”

Y.B Tuan P Kamalanathan, Deputy Minister of Education, Malaysia, said“Xchanging’s efforts to provide education to the second generation of students in Malaysia through technology are aligned with our vision of becoming a developed nation by 2020. It was challenging to provide an ICT system to about 10,000 schools across the country and what Xchanging managed to achieve as our entrusted partner was par excellence.”

Congratulating Xchanging, Dhirendra Pratap Singh, Founder & Editor-in-Chief, ICT Post and organiser of SAESA 2014 said, “The response from various industry leaders on this summit was overwhelming.  The aim of this forum was to explore the latent potential of innovation in the education sector, and Xchanging truly deserves to win the honour for its compelling work in running ‘school on the cloud’ initiative for the Ministry of Education in Malaysia.”

The South Asia Summit Education Award is an effort to realise the potential of the education sector across Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka. This summit has helped in creating awareness about the ingenious, high quality educational initiatives across the region.
