Xchanging’s winning project, 1BestariNet, is a nationwide cloud-based learning platform implemented in collaboration with YTL Communications and the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MoE). 1BestariNet is helping to bridge the urban-rural divide by giving teachers and students access to the same systems and content, regardless of their location. As the world’s largest online education community, it connects 10,000 public schools, 5.5 million students, 4.5 million parents and 500,000 teachers via a high-speed 4G Internet.
Through 1BestariNet, Malaysia became the first country in the world to deliver a single, nation-wide cloud-based learning platform. It provides significant benefits to all users —schools are achieving cost savings through the cloud-based delivery of content; students are making substantial progress in their scholastic development irrespective of their background or location; teachers are now able to easily develop stimulating lesson plans with engaging content; and parents can track their children’s progress at school on a real-time basis.
