Informatica receives highest score, 4.22 out of 5, in Master Data Management use-case category

Bangalore, India, March 24, 2015: Informatica Corporation, an independent provider of data integration software, has announced that it has been rated by Gartner, Inc., a leading IT research and advisory firm, among the four highest scoring vendors in all six use-case categories in the Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools report.

Informatica received the highest score in the Master Data Management use-case category, receiving 4.22 out of 5 in the report, published Feb. 18, 2015.

Previously, Gartner positioned Informatica as a leader in its 2014 Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools report, published Nov. 26, 2014. In the Leaders Quadrant, Informatica was positioned the highest and furthest along the Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision axes. (See news release, “Gartner Positions Informatica As A Leader In 2014 Data Quality Tools Magic Quadrant.”)

In the just-published Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools report, Ted Friedman, Gartner Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, and Saul Judah, Gartner Research Director, wrote that, “The critical capabilities defined in this research and used to assess the vendors align with a subset of the product evaluation criteria in the corresponding “Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools.”

Gartner rated Informatica among the four highest scoring vendors in the following use-case categories: including Master Data Management (receiving 4.22 out of 5); Operational/Transactional Data Quality (receiving 4.24 out of 5); Information Governance Initiatives (receiving 4.20 out of 5); Data Integration (receiving 4.26 out of 5); Data Migration (receiving 4.26 out of 5); and Big Data (receiving 4.24 out of 5).

“The Gartner Critical Capabilities for Data Quality Tools ratings allocated to each vendor are driven primarily from customer feedback resulting from a survey of reference customers provided by each vendor,” the report stated. “The degree to which the customer base feels a given capability meets its needs, along with the frequency of usage across the customer sample, influences the rating.”

Gartner stated in the report that, “We see high demand for data quality tools, including from midsize organizations. This demand is driven partly by activities in the fields of business intelligence and analytics (analytical scenarios), MDM (operational scenarios) and digital business. Also contributing to demand are information governance programs, which are growing in number, and requirements to support ongoing operations, data migrations and inter-enterprise data sharing.”

Dennis Moore, senior vice president and general manager, Information Quality Solutions, Informatica, said, “We believe these Gartner ratings, based in part on customer experiences, validate the strength of our comprehensive range of data quality tools, which ultimately help organizations become more ‘decision ready’ when drawing insights from their data. These tools provide customers with the authoritative and trustworthy data they need to help increase revenues, reduce costs and manage risk.”

Informatica Data Quality ensures data quality to stakeholders, projects, and data domains for a wide range of projects and applications – on premise, on Hadoop or in the cloud – using a single, unified platform. Powered by the Informatica Vibe virtual data machine, it enables users to proactively monitor and cleanse their data in a consistent and reusable manner, regardless of the underlying platform and technologies, empowering the business to share in the responsibility for data quality and governance.
