InterSystems Recognised as a Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems

InterSystems-LogoETON, UK, October 30, 2014: InterSystems, a global provider of advanced software technologies including the InterSystems Caché  data platform, has been positioned as a Leader in the “Gartner Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems,” by analysts Donald Feinberg, Merv Adrian, and Nick Heudecker, published October 16, 2014.

“We believe our recognition as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant reflects our clients’ appreciation of our data platform approach, combining advanced data management, integration and analytics,” said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning.

“In a crowded and chaotic database marketplace, with hundreds of niche players along with mega-vendors, a simple truth remains: Data matters. Our clients and partners rely on us for a data platform that can manage the immense volumes and variety of data they encounter today,” said Robert Nagle, InterSystems Vice President of Database Platforms.

“InterSystems Caché is a data platform that supports all types of data – structured and unstructured, SQL and NoSQL, centralised and distributed – and deals with the metadata automatically. It delivers massive horizontal and vertical scalability. Most importantly, Caché enables analytics at the point of action, for just-in-time insight, to complete the data continuum: capture, share, understand, and act,” Nagle added.

According to Gartner, the operational database management system market is defined by “relational and non-relational database management products that are suitable for a broad range of enterprise-level transactional applications. These include purchased business applications such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management and customised transactional systems built by an organisation’s development team.”

In its report, Gartner stated, “For this Magic Quadrant, we define operational DBMSs as systems that support multiple structures and data types, such as XML, text, JavaScript Object Notation (JSON), audio, image and video content.”
